Riquan James is suing Mike and Maurkice Pouncey for allegedly beating the crap out of him early Saturday morning at South Beach’s Cameo nightclub.
James, 24, Niya Pickett, 32 and Brentley Williams, 24, have hired attorney Marwan Porter, who called a press conference Tuesday to announce the suit against the NFL players.
Miami Beach Police responded to an incident at the club, where Mike (who plays for the Miami Dolphins) and Maurkice (who plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers) were celebrating their birthday.
The Pouncey brothers’ attorney has said the allegations were false. Attorney Jeff Ostrow called the accusations “lies.”
According to Riquan James, the Pouncey brothers were pushing a group of people as he walked in. Then, he got shoved too. James asked them to stop. Maurkice got upset and responded with homophobic taunts and then fists, James claims.
“Then someone turned me around, and one of the Pouncey brothers hit me in the face,” James said. A group of guys then began to hit him as he fell to the ground and crawled up into a fetal position, until he got thrown out of the club, he said.
A man who goes by the name of Ricky Vasquez, most likely Riquan James, took to Twitter and Instagram over the weekend to accuse the Pouncey brothers of jumping him.
