Hotel surveillance video shows a man police have identified as 50-year-old Alberto Ruiz push a woman down and steal her brand new Lexus at the J.W. Marriott Marquis Hotel in Miami. Ruiz hit seven people and rammed into four cars as he tries to get away.
One hotel valet suffered serious injuries and is in serious condition in Jackson Memorial Hospital’s trauma center.
Police say they knew right away that the suspect was Ruiz, who has a 22-page rap sheet dating back to 1983, when he was arrested for stealing a car at the age of 19.
The stolen Lexus was found two hours later. Police caught up with Ruiz 10 hours later at a hotel in Little Havana, where they used a stun gun on him after he resisted arrest.
