Korea’s largest automotive group is gaining a stronger foothold in the Russian market.
The Korea Automotive Research Institute says around 33-thousand-and -800 Hyundai and Kia vehicles were sold in Russia in June… taking up 16-point-9 percent of the market share.
Good enough for first place among all companies, and it means that Hyundai and Kia are starting to close the gap against Russia’s leading automaker AvtoVAZ, which claimed about 15 percent of the market last month.
The institute attributes the strong sales to the opening of a St. Petersburg plant in 2011, which has boosted market presence… and the manufacturing of Russia-specific cars like the Hyundai Solaris sub-compact.
