A New York mother claims her daughter was left partially paralyzed after unwittingly eating a marijuana-laced brownie she had bought at her high school last month.
On February 27, Danieel Buchanan, 17, bought a brownie from another student at Benjamin Banneker High School and shared it with two of her classmates.
“Around 11 a.m. the school called me. They said she had high blood pressure and her heart was racing and they were taking her to the emergency room,” Allison Buchanan told PIX 11 News.
Doctors suggest rehabilitative therapy, but Danieel’s insurance company, Empire Blue Cross, Blue Shield won’t cover the cost, after blood tests revealed the only drug in her system was marijuana.
The 18-year-old unidentified student who sold Danieel the brownie has been suspended from school and New York police are investigating the incident.
