At least 48 people were killed in a small coastal town in Kenya on Sunday evening after unidentified gunmen attacked buildings. The suspected Islamist militants set fire to at least three hotels, a bank, police station and a petrol station near the village of Mpeketoni. A policeman was killed along with a driver for a police chief in the town. Residents fled cafes and bars which were busy with people watching the world cup and say there were at least 30 attackers who used two vehicles in the raid. Report by Sarah Kerr.
