Faulty air bags are being blamed in Monday’s recall of some 2-point-9 million vehicles by three Japanese car makers.
Honda, Nissan, and Mazda had all used air bags supplied by Tokyo-based Takata Corporation… and now concerns that the inflaters could cause the air bags to rupture triggered the massive call-back.
They follow an earlier recall by Toyota on June 11th… of 2-point-2 million vehicles equipped with Takata air bags.
A U.S. auto safety regulator is investigating the suspected defect.
