Greenland National Park > The World's Largest

Northeast Greenland National Park is a lot larger than Yellowstone. In fact, it’s the world’s largest national park.

Yellowstone National Park is certainly beautiful, but it’s not the world’s biggest. The simply named National Park in north eastern Greenland owns that title, and it is huge.

National Park is also a lot less traveled, but if you can get there, it’s a simply gorgeous place to take in some stunning scenery.

The park encompasses about 375,000 square miles. To put that astounding size into perspective, roughly 8 dozen Yellowstone National Parks could fit into the extensive area.

That makes it larger than France, Venezuela and Pakistan.

Over 11,000 thousand of miles of coastline surround the park that also includes the ‘world’s northernmost area of land’ and the ‘Northern Hemisphere’s largest ice cap’ .

The area is home to various species of Arctic animals that can be spotted throughout the park. You can expect to catch glimpses of polar bears, caribou, walruses, hares and foxes. Approximately half of the world’s entire population of musk oxen reportedly call the park home.

The population of the vast park consists of approximately 40 rangers and weather scientists, spread out across 5 settlements.

The visitor count is higher but not by much, amounting to approximately 500 tourists who venture there each year.
