Dave & Buster's IPO Bust Proves Valuable to GPs



When the IPO of Dave & Buster’s went bust in late 2012, Oak Hill Capital Partners looked as if it might be on the hook for a bad deal worth nearly $600 million. But, the private equity firm turned the tables, setting itself up in April 2014 for an exit of possibly more than $1 billion. The would-be buyers, Onex Corp. and Cineplex, have the potential to take the bar-cade chain and explore synergies to their movie theaters. Increasingly, it seems to be the MO for PE.
