An adult humpback whale spent the better part of a week entangled in fishing lines along the leeward coast of the Big Island of Hawaii south of Kailua-Kona, according to observers. Members of the West Hawaii Marine Mammal Response Network, many of which had just done a refresher training two days before, were able to free it with careful efforts.
